The "Red Eye" picture in .png
This is a picture that had originally been taken with redness in the child's eyes. Using Gimp, I used the dropper tool to get the correct color from the outside of the child's eyes and then used the paintbrush tool to fix the redness. The picture was originally saved in a JPEG format, and using Gimp I have also saved it in a GIF and PNG format. The differences between the three photos are not extreme by any means, but there are subtle differences in the texture and dimensional qualities between the photos. The GIF image for example (second from the top) is much grainier and two-dimensional looking than is the PNG image (third from the top.)
This is an exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal athttp://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc
