Class 6 Exercise 2

This is my attempt at a silver dollar. I used Vector Graphics to design the silver dollar, using the shape and text tools to design it. I struggled with the alignment of the letters, as well as drawing the face (which is why I went with the smiley face.)

Midterm #10

This is a screenshot of a picture of a house drawn using Microsoft Word. It was made using a combination of Word's shape tools, drawing tools, and picture tools. With each image I changed the color, using either pattern, texture, image, or simply color itself, and I also adjusted the transparency when necessary. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc

Midterm #9

This is a screenshot of a course diagram drawing created in word. Using Word's drawing tool, I created this course diagram using the shapes tool to create both the shapes and arrows, putting in the text into each shape, and then using the Autoshape tool to change the color and transparency. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. Midterm #6

This is an image of an animated Gif. Using Gimp, I opened a text circle and inserted my name into the text. I then added four layers of text circles, using the rotate tool and increasing it by 45 degrees each time. I anchored each layer, and saved the image as an animation under Gif. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. Midterm #5

This is the image in a JPEG format.

This is the image in an interlaced PNG format.

These are two images in two different formats. The first is the image in JPEG, the second is the image in PNG. They were saved this way using Photoshop's ability to save in multiple formats. The purpose of the assignment is to notice the difference in loading speeds between the two images. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc

Class 4 Assignment 3

These were the three Immersive Education videos that I found the most interesting, although I do have to be completely honest and say I took the South Park video more for its title than the video itself.

Rocket World Screenshot Around Rocket

This is a screen shot of the class around the a Rocket in Rocket World EMMS. Using Gimp, I zoomed in and outlined my avatar with blue paint using the paintbrush tool. I then used the text tool to put my name over the image.

Rocket World Text Chat

This is a picture of me using the text chat feature in order to communicate with my classmates in Rocket World EMMS.

Roll Call #1, Class #4

Class 1 Assignment 7

Using the "Text Chat" feature in Rocket World EMMS

Using the "Changing Camera Position" feature in Rocket World EMMS

Clicking on my Avatar's back to look around in Rocket World EMMS

Using the "Flying" feature in Rocket World EMMS

Using the "Zoom Out" feature to adjust the size of the minimap

Using the "Zoom In" feature to adjust the size of the minimap

Due to my password not working, I was forced to take these screenshots using a guest account on Rocket World EMMS presented through Immerging Education. This was an exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. Red Eye Image Formats Assignment

The "Red Eye" picture in .jpg

The "Red Eye" Picture in .gif

The "Red Eye" picture in .png

This is a picture that had originally been taken with redness in the child's eyes. Using Gimp, I used the dropper tool to get the correct color from the outside of the child's eyes and then used the paintbrush tool to fix the redness. The picture was originally saved in a JPEG format, and using Gimp I have also saved it in a GIF and PNG format. The differences between the three photos are not extreme by any means, but there are subtle differences in the texture and dimensional qualities between the photos. The GIF image for example (second from the top) is much grainier and two-dimensional looking than is the PNG image (third from the top.)

This is the ball image saved as .png

This is an image that has been saved three times in three different formats. The first image is saved in a JPEG format, the second in a GIF format, and the third has been saved in a PNG format. All three were originally saved as ".tif" images, and were edited using Gimp. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc

These are three screen shots of Gimp being used to take an image and save it into a different format, as well as editing an image using the "Text" tool to write my name on it.

Midterm #2

This is a picture of a cat that I modified to add a caption at the bottom. Using Gimp, I used the rectangular select tool to highlight a rectangular area at the bottom of the photograph. I then hit "Edit" and chose to "Fill with BG (background) Color." Using the text tool I added a caption to the bottom, using blue in order to best contrast with the other colors in the picture. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc

Midterm #1

This is a modified picture of a child that originally had "red eye" in the picture. Using Gimp, I used the eyedropper tool to copy the color around the red portion of the eye. I then used the paintbrush tool to place that color (which as a light brown) over the red part of each eye in order to fix the photographic phenomenon. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. Class 2 Assignment 3

Class 2 Assignment 6

First getting into Rocket World EMMS.

Flying on the Moon.

Opening up the map feature and learning how to teleport to different parts of Rocket World EMMS.

Teleporting into Mars and experimenting with the chat feature.

Experimenting with the build feature of Rocket World EMMS.

Class 2 Assignment 4

The  Rocket World EMMS tutorial video was hugely helpful in showing how to use the different aspects of Rocket World. Overall, the video essentially showed that the functionality is essentially the same as World of Warcraft or another one of those types of games taking place in an interactive virtual world. The differences in colors between the dots on the minimap, dependent upon whether they are your friends are not, was something that I am sure would have taken me a long time to figure out without the tutorial. The ability to teleport your friends to your location in the virtual world is also something I am not sure I would have ever figured out.
